Dollar Tree & 99 Cent Only Store Bicycle Rim Makeover!

7/2/2020

When I found this bicycle rim, I knew it would be perfect to brighten up the entrance to our home!  If you happen to run across any bike rims, this is an easy way to create a door wreath or art on a budget!  Have you made a bicycle rim wreath before? If so, I'd love to see what you've made!
Picture
Here's what you'll need to get started:
  • a bicycle rim
  • spray paint in the color of your choice
  • a 99 cent or Dollar Store metal flower (often sold in the garden section)
  • about 10-12 stems of Dollar Tree or 99 Cent Only Store flowers (I used a variety of styles, including lavender and roses mixed with wildflowers.)
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks

  1. Prep your bicycle rim by cleaning it completely, then spray paint in light coats. Allow dry time if you need multiple coats.
  2. Shorten flower stems to a few inches below the base of each flower.
  3. Working from one direction, start by arranging wildflowers with  extra length out away from the edge. This will make the design more interesting, and it makes it have an easy stopping point.
  4. Arrange larger flowers evenly across the length of the bottom, making sure to distribute the different colors as evenly as possible.
  5. Use the wildflowers to fill in the gaps between the larger flowers. The design will look more organic if you direct them outward in both directions. The key is to make it appear seamless.
  6. You can also add fun embellishments like a bow, a bee, or a ladybug! Dollar Tree often has cute items to add on a budget in the garden section!
  7. Once complete, you can hang the metal flower in the center of the bicycle rim, using the hole in the spoke or a door hanger.
