Celebrating veterans with a thank you card!

This Veteran's Day, November 11th, I wanted to reflect on all the hard work, bravery, and sacrifice Veterans have given to our country. Without everything that our veterans do, we would not have the freedoms we all enjoy today. Join me in celebrating the veterans in our lives by making a card in their honor to say thanks!

What's the perfect way to make a card? The Cricut Joy! I love using mine for smaller projects, and especially for card making! It's so compact and easy to use, that it makes projects like this so fun to create. For this project, you won't need a ton of supplies, either!

Here's what you will need:
Cricut Joy
Cricut Joy Card Mat
Cricut Joy Pen (I used a blue gel pen)
Cricut Insert Cards (I used the New Romantic Sampler with a Khaki card and Red insert)
If you want to create the same project, here's a link to the Cricut Design Space project.

Let's talk about the steps you'll want to get started:
  1. Make sure your Cricut Joy is plugged in and ready to go.
  2. Open the Design Space software and go directly to the project link above.
  3. Select "Make It" on the Project Page.
  4. Select continue on the Project cutting screen. Your Cricut Joy will connect to the software via Bluetooth.
  5. Design Space will ask you to select the material you are using. Select "Insert Card-Cardstock."
  6. Load the pen into the machine in the tool slot.
  7. Load your card into your card mat. The card mat has a sleeve to insert the card. Line it up with the measurements on the mat.
  8. Insert the mat with the card into the machine to load it.
  9. Select "Go" for the machine to start writing.
  10. When Design Space asks for you to switch to the fine-point cutting blade, remove the pen from the tool holder and re-cap it. Insert the blade back into the tool slot.
  11. Select "Go" and Design Space will cut the design out of the card.
  12. Once the design is cut out, select "Unload" to unload the mat from the machine.
  13. Remove the mat from the machine and turn over the mat. Slowly peel the card away from the card mat.
  14. Remove any extra pieces of cardstock from the card and use your mini scraper to remove the cardstock from the card mat.
  15. Insert the red card insert into the card!

That's it! It's that easy! Once you are used to the process, it takes less than 5 minutes to create a beautiful, custom card for any event! Let me know in a comment below what is your favorite type of card to make!
